Community Bike Shop RFP

FITZip.org is inviting qualified individuals and organizations to answer a RFP (Request for Proposal) to take over the San Antonio Community Bicycle Shop, 

Brief Project Overview
FitZip.org accepts applications from individuals, groups, or non-profit organizations with a focus on bicycling, active transportation, or community development working locally.

Organization’s Background
The San Antonio Community Bicycle Shop started in 2011 at 2619 Guadalupe St. San Antonio TX.  In 2016 the shop moved to the Ella Austin Community Center where it has operated ever since. The Shop consists of a 1800 square foot warehouse equipped with 6 workbenches, bike stands and tools.  The shop bicycle donation program that approximately 50-100 bicycles a month. While in a primer location for a bike shop, currently the shop does not offer bicycle repair services.  The shop includes a website and established programs.

Project Goals & Target Audience
The winning organization will provide a detailed plan on how to manage and grow the community bicycle shop to serve the San Antonio area.  We would like to see a plan that includes community classes, repair services, sales of bicycles and parts, recycling programs, community open shop, activities and community engagement.

FITZip.org will provide one year (12 months) of rent and utilities at the current location, all benches, stands and tools, established relationships with bike shops, bike shop educational programs, website management for the 12 month period.

Scope of Work & Deliverables
A one and three year plan outline should be included explaining how the services will be incorporated and resources needed. Aside from the timeline, a budget showing potential income and expenses for the three years.
